Obstetric Anaesthesia Special Interest Group
The clinical situation regarding the COVID19 pandemic will impact the anaesthetic care of pregnant women
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists released a document for healthcare professionals on 9 March, 2020, updated on 13 March, 2020. This information is being updated regularly and you can apply for email updates at the website.
This information should be used in conjunction with local guidelines and according to local resources, which differ between institutions. Communication between local obstetric, anaesthetic and neonatal services regarding management is important.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists also published a shorter statement on their website on 14 March, 2020, which will be updated.
In addition, their advice to obstetricians and gynaecologists on 14 March, 2020 may be of interest.
Information regarding the provision of general anaesthesia is consistent with advice in non-pregnant patients, the resources provided by ANZCA are recommended.
