The Australian and New Zealand Emergency Laparotomy Audit – Quality Improvement (ANZELA-QI)

The ANZELA-QI, co-led by ANZCA and the RACS , is a bi-national, multi-centre project which aims to improve perioperative care of patients undergoing emergency laparotomy. There is a compelling case for a high quality, prospective audit to drive quality improvement for this at-risk patient cohort. Similar initiative from overseas network has demonstrated significantly enhanced process of care and reduction in mortality risk.
