Welfare session at ASA NSC

“Wellbeing: So what are we doing about it?”

In this session we begin by addressing one of the enemies of components of wellbeing fatigue. Professor Drew Dawson is nationally and internationally recognised for his contributions to the scientific community in the areas of sleep and fatigue research, organisational psychology and human behaviour, and the human implications of hours of work.

Our next speaker Dr Bethan Richards (Staff Specialist Rheumatologist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney) is director of the Basic Physician Trainee OK (BPTOK) program. Dr Richards will share her practical experience in implementing and running the BPTOK program. This program is supporting many young doctors through their training and provides lessons for us as we develop our own programs to support the wellbeing of our trainees and fellows.

Finally, Dr Caitlin Weston, our most recent Churchill Fellow will talk on her fellowship findings from her journey across the world exploring strategies for improving the wellbeing of clinicians. It has been a life-changing experience for her and is sure to be an inspiring and powerful talk.
